This began in 1992, not in a boardroom, but in the soul of Julian Hampton: a young man who loved music the way serious people love anything that matters — completely. That love grew quietly and deliberately until it became something the world could walk into. NousSole Cafe & Lounge was established in 2021, shaped by a family rooted in the grit and grace of Detroit and Maryland, now fully grounded in Southern California. They did not arrive with a concept. They arrived with a conviction.

We source directly from local and minority-owned farms — growers who share our standard of no shortcuts and no substitutes. When you sit down to eat here, your meal is supporting a supply chain built intentionally, one that keeps money circulating in communities that have historically been cut out of it. Every purchase at this table is a vote for something larger than dinner.

Our chef-driven menu draws from Afro-Caribbean and Mediterranean traditions layered over a soul food heritage, and the story starts long before the kitchen. Seasonal produce, heritage proteins, and regionally grown ingredients move from field to hand to table with full intention. The result is food that carries both history and harvest — dishes that demand your attention because they earned it.
